The past few months I have spent almost as much time at MCR as I have at home. Three nurses stand out to me as outstanding and Jeff Ullrich is one of them. I attended a 2-year old's birthday party with virtually no immune system and was exposed to a petri dish of childhood diseases. I ended up in the ED with extreme vomiting, which became fast and furious, preventing me from holding down sips of water.
Jeff became one of my team of nurses helping me. What makes him stand out is not only his ability to handle the medications and computer, but he seems to have an amazing empathy for his patients. I have generalized anxiety as well as PTSD; it was almost as if Jeff felt when my anxiety was rising, and the back of a hand gently rested on my knee or shoulder immediately calming me. I have never encountered a nurse at MCR that understood anxiety like this nor one who could so quietly calm it. If there was a way, Jeff should be hired to teach how to calm people since he does it so compassionately.
