My husband suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in March. His right side and eyesight are affected. He has aphasia as well. Mandy was our first nurse on arrival at Spalding. She has, during the stay, been responsive to requests for everything from a glass of ice water to an ice bag for his knee. He also had a total knee replacement. She helped dress him and helped with transfers from the wheelchair to bed and wheelchair to toilet. She is always responsive, courteous, accountable and went about as far "above and beyond" as you can go. He was a different patient because of the stroke and having his "good" leg immobilized. She assisted in the lunch room carrying his tray, getting juice or milk and always encouraged him. She showed empathy and compassion for our one-year-old grandson who had 3rd-degree burns on his hands. Thank you, Mandy!
