Peggy is one of the NICU Charge RNs and has been a Swedish employee for many years. As one of the NICU social workers, I have observed and worked with Peggy Monton for nearly five years. She always prioritizes the welfare and best interests of our infant patients and their families and can ALWAYS be counted on to appropriately advocate on their behalf. Not only does she have decades of nursing experience, both in direct care and as a leader, she is a humble, incredibly gracious, loving individual who always brings compassion, a quiet sense of humor, and wisdom to her work. I have witnessed the respect that ALL of our neonatologists, surgeons, and other medical experts have for her, and she does not hestitate to make suggestions or initiate care when it is needed. Peggy is highly respected by eveyone, staff, patients, and visitors alike. Peggy is generous with her praise and she readily shares her knowledge in a manner that makes make everyone feel comfortable. Since my first day of work in the NICU, people who work here have described themselves as being part of a "family." I know that to be true and give Peggy much of the credit for the NICU being a supportive, nurturing work environment. I know that I have grown as a person and as a professional social worker for having had the privilege of working with her. I feel honored to know her and be her co-worker. Peggy deserves the highest honors and I hope she will be considered for this award.
