The daughter of a recent patient in CCU nominated Denise for the compassionate and comforting care she provided to her and her mother during her mother’s final days. In her heart-felt nomination, the daughter stated, “She made sure that Mom got the very best care, whether she was in the role of the clinical leader, just relieving for lunch or providing direct care. The last day that my mother lived was a very emotional day and we both knew that she was dying. Denise was there every step of the way. She provided comfort and hugs when I needed them. She listened to me and explained the process even though I had been through it dozens of time as a nurse, but never as a family member. I truly treasured the way she treated my mother with respect, kindness and compassion. Denise is what all nurses should strive to be and is truly in our profession because she cares so much. I will never forget her.”
