First Nomination: Kandy recently took care of a patient who had ‘fired’ several nurses. She was successful caring for him for the two nights he stayed with us. Kandy explained to her fellow nurses that this person was extremely anxious about her pain and that was the reason she frequently called for help. Kandy was very calming and reassuring to this patient. She is a great example of being positive with patients and staff, always! She is ready to lend a helping hand to everyone. Kandy’s compassion is evident on every shift.

Second Nomination: I am a new RN nominating Kandy. She took me to a patient’s room to show how to administer a very personal, intimate procedure. She introduced me to the patient and then explained to both of us what she would be doing and why. She walked the patient gently through each step, letting her know when and where she would be touching her. She was specific, calm, considerate, compassionate and very professional. She was gentle and set us both at ease. I was very impressed with Kandy’s compassion and skill.
