I’d like to share a recent experience with your staff. My fiancée’s mother has been diagnosed with stage-four cancer. We spent this week in Anderson at St. John’s Hospital, on the 6-south floor. When we arrived, we truly didn’t know what to expect. The nursing staff was excellent, and they provided us with the necessary information to proceed with various decisions. One nurse who truly stood out was, Joy Toombs. Since we travelled from Texas, Joy spent the necessary time providing us information and never once made us feel like a bother. She easily spent 20 to 30 minutes at times, speaking with us. Not once did she ever make us feel like a burden, especially when I knew she had other patients needing her care. At times, I would apologize, due to the amount of time that she spent with us. Not only did she provide us with necessary medical information about my fiancée's mother, she treated us like family. She was truly caring, and speaking from her heart. She literally made us feel like her own children (not saying that she’s old.) She even shared personal stories that eased some of our pain. She was the ray of sunshine on a gloomy day, and is truly an asset to your organization. I’m glad to know that my fiancée's mother is in the competent care of your staff, especially, Joy Toombs.
