In January, I donated a kidney to my son-in-law. While going through the pre-op testing I had the pleasure of meeting Tricia. She was nice and helpful and made me very comfortable.
What a nice surprise to come to my room after surgery and see that Tricia was my nurse. I’ve never had surgery before and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m a talker and not everyone can put up with me. Tricia turned out to be the kind of person that listens and made me feel like it was ok to be hurting and reassured me that it would get better. She encouraged me to get up and move around. She took the time to explain that I was having normal aches and pains.
Besides all my discomfort, I was worried about my wife, daughter and son-in-law who were also involved in this. Tricia spent time reassuring them and making them very comfortable. She even went so far as to personally show our daughter a short cut to go from my room down to see her husband in ICU. Not all people would take the time to help on such a small detail. She never greeted us with anything but a smile. She didn’t make us ever feel rushed or awkward. He was fortunate to have Tricia as his daily nurse. That made it nice for our daughter to continue with the same nurse who was aware of the situation.
