Bob Rodriguez came to us from Antioch Kaiser about a year ago, maybe more, it’s hard to tell because he fit in with us so quickly.

Nursing is Bob’s 2nd career. He retired from ATT. He was in sales and also in management with them. After he retired, he was just knocking around, trying to find a place to fit, and considering career options. Then 9/11 happened and he turned his focus to the medical field. He had considered the medical field in his youth, but then life and a good job got in the way. Anyway, he decided to go to a job fair, and he met up with a rep from Johnson and Johnson who encouraged him to consider becoming a nurse. Then a friend called him after seeing one of the Johnson and Johnson ads, and thought that Bob would make a good nurse. It was as if the stars aligned, and Bob decided to check it out after discussing it with his wife, Valerie, who is also a nurse. Apparently she gave him her blessing, as he is here with us now. He went to Los Medanos, and the rest is history.
He also went the extra mile, or 10, and obtained his CCRN certification. He models the philosophy of caring espoused by the AACN daily.

Since coming here to Walnut Creek, Bob has been kind and conscientious to all his assigned patients, as well as his co-workers. He is quick to laugh and smile, which helps a lot with this crowd. He is friendly to all. He is patient, and that is very difficult some shifts. It comes as no surprise that his patients and their families are very happy and comfortable under his watchful eye. It also comes as no surprise that he was nominated for the DAISY Award by one of them. This honor is well deserved. Today, like every day, we are proud to call you one of our team. You make us all look good. Thank you for all that you do every day for all of our patients.
