1st Letter mailed from patient’s brother
My brother was recently a patient at your hospital. He visited your emergency room December 1st and was diagnosed with adrenocarcinoma with extensive metastatic disease. Subsequently he was admitted 3 times over the course of the following few weeks and died on January 4th.
Though my family has struggled with my brother’s sudden demise, I feel a heartfelt conviction to acknowledge the true selfless efforts of Angela Pitcher. My family and I shared visitations with our brother and on January 4th, the family was planning to come for a visit around 5 p.m. To our surprise we received a phone call at 10 minutes before 5 conveying that our brother had died.
I later discovered that Angela had stayed at my brother’s bedside as much as possible for the preceding 3 hours because she did not want him to be alone. My brother never made a fuss about company; he spent his entire life alone, very few friends, and kept everything to himself.
I am truly grateful to your nurse and the entire staff on the eighth floor for their genuine care and concern, as well as the professionalism extended to my family by the hospice program staff.

My brother was diagnosed with cancer. Incurable, with only weeks to live. Angela took the time to see to his needs and to make sure that he was comfortable and at ease and also that the family was satisfied. The day he passed we were all at work and to know that she was by his side was satisfying to me. To know that there are nurses like her that have a heart and cares makes one feel good and I know my parents who passed 3 years ago also felt and were happy she was there. She is #1 in my heart.

My brother passed away 1.04.12. Angela took the time to help our family convey our concerns and wishes to the proper authorities so his passing was with dignity and comfort. She was in the room very often the last few days to see all was taken care of. This action on her part allowed the family to visit and say our good byes without the concern of worrying about his care and comfort. Her help to us can only be measured in compassion but she deserves recognition for services above and beyond all I’ve witnessed and she will always have my gratitude for her compassion and professionalism toward my brother at a time he needed it most.
