Betsy was caring for a patient that recently had a birthday but her family had not called or sent a card or wished her a happy birthday. Betsy heard her talking to her family on the phone and could sense how upset she was. She then went to the café and bought a piece of cake, took it to the patient and gathered some staff to sing her happy birthday. The patient started crying and was elated at the gesture. My patient across the hall commented on how nice it was that she did that for her patient.

This is normal for Betsy, it’s not unusual for her to go far above and beyond and I feel she deserves to be recognized for her compassionate care.
