Monica Hupalo RN, was floated the Burn Unit on 7/22/12. She was asked to provide care to a patient that was extremely complex, and well outside of what would normally be asked of a float nurse. Monica did not hesitate to help the Burn Unit, and care for the patient. More importantly, she demonstrated a high level of professionalism by preparing herself for a difficult day ahead. The critical thinking demonstrated was top notch, as she utilized every resource available to deliver the best care possible. Monica cares about her patients, and truly exemplifies what it means to be a nurse. I applaud her professionalism, enthusiasm, and compassion. She is a role model for patient advocacy, as she will only accept the highest standards. Monica returned to the Burn Unit on her day off to request further education about procedures in the Burn Unit. She discovered that the patient she cared for was undergoing the same procedures and requested to perform the task to gain a better understanding of the process. Her dedication to learning and improving her skill set is admirable.
