When our identical twin boys were born at 24 weeks and 6 days on a fall day, our world got turned upside down. They entered the world and into the care of capable and caring hands from HDVCH. From the moment we entered the hospital, we experienced tremendous expertise as well as caring service. We have had incredible nurses, doctors, receptionists, PT, OT, janitors, and the list continues, with each interaction demonstrating how special HDVCH really is.
One nurse who stood out was Brittany as if she were a gift given by God to help us through our journey. From the beginning, it was clear Brittany's vast knowledge of nursing mixed with the love and care she gave set her apart. Brittany helped us through the most difficult time in our lives when we lost one of our sons just three days after he was born. Brittany's care and compassion continued over the next 128 days as she helped us through a surgery, an infection, numerous blood transfusions, and the overall ups and downs of having a 1 pound 9 ounce baby in the SBU. She not only cared for J but for my wife and me. She was a shoulder to cry on, someone who recommended other great nurses to care for our son, and overall a wonderful human being. Due to Brittany's great care, J is going home without any health complications and no feeding or breathing tubes.
Brittany truly is a blessing.
