Tammy is the January recipient of the DAISY Award after receiving a heart-felt nomination by a family member. The patient was on 3 East after spending two days in CCU following a colon resection. He also had had open heart with five stents, three back surgeries, Fibromyalgia, and Parkinson's Disease. The patient’s wife noted that Tammy took this difficult patient history to heart and always made sure the patient received his meds on time, that his pump worked, and was continually checking his socks and watching his temperature — all with a smile. His wife said she felt comfortable leaving her husband in Tammy’s care while she ran home to take a bath. Among the accolades on the nomination were, “She was so very professional! She chose the right profession. Her care overflows to her patients and their family. She let us know we were important. Some nurses are known as “Angels of Mercy” and she’s one”.
