I know of many times that Joshua has given patients money for medication or food. He does it quietly so that attention isn't drawn to him. He prefers to be a silent angel. I had a patient receiving radiation for breast cancer that had metastasized to the spine, among a number of other health issues. Nothing weighed on this woman more than not being able to be there for her children aged 4 and 10. Joshua wasn't assigned to this patient but noticed her children out on the unit without shoes and looking for a snack. He quickly and quietly gave one of the nursing assistants money and asked her to take the kids downstairs to get snacks, drinks, or whatever they wanted. The patient later found out and amidst her pain, she smiled. She was so grateful to Josh. He deserves to be recognized for all of his silent acts of kindness. Thank you for being so compassionate.
