Emily went out of her way for a patient and for me, a staff member - not once, but twice. The 1st incident took place when I needed to speak to a woman patient who spoke Spanish. Emily took the time to get me the help I needed. She sought out other staff members who might have the answers I needed and then got me the CyraCom translator phone and showed me and the client how to use it. I was grateful for the time she took to do all of that.
But, that's not all; only a few days later another patient who also spoke Spanish was on my list for outreach. I was so glad to find Emily in his room already doing her best to communicate with this man using a new app for translation. I asked if she could help me again and no questions asked, she jumped right in and showed me how to use this app as well. Although I recognize the hard work and dedication of all of Hamot's nurses, I must say that Emily is one of the very few who will help staff like me from other departments, as well as go above and beyond to make the language connection with her patients. Way to go, Emily! Great job!
