Our mother was rushed to the ICU in critical condition and was a patient on that unit for a long time. We knew she was getting good care from all the nurses but our experience with Jerry made us realize how blessed we were to have such an extraordinary nursing staff taking care of mother. Although there were many nurses that gave wonderful care, we felt Jerry went far beyond, giving 200% in all that he did.
He was gentle and compassionate in her care and demonstrated sensitivity to her personal needs. He explained the care he was giving, not only to our mother but us as well. So not only did our mother understand what was happening but because he included the family, we knew what to expect also.
He showed great understanding to our fears and tears. He never lost patience with us when we pointed out to him a machine was beeping or her breathing had changed.
Our mother’s most difficult time was at night. She wanted us with her. During those times, Jerry never made us feel we were in the way or that we were hindering her healing.
Although she was critical, we prayed, “Lord please send the caregivers and medical personnel needed” and he did……in the person of Jerry.
Jerry’s care for our mother, along with the extended care of her family, was nothing short of an answer to prayer.
