Laurantine Echols, LPN, Discharge Planner at Brookwood Medical Center was nominated for the DAISY Award by Melody Hart, RN, MSN, former co-worker, along with recognition letters from Lori Green, RN, Brookwood Case Manager and Jonathan Dunn, LGSW, Gentiva Hospice, who stated that “her reputation was well known to me prior to my first introduction. And what a grand reputation it is!”
In her nomination, Melody included “patients, case workers, vendors and case managers that meet Laurantine never forget her. I hear people remark all the time how efficient, thorough and caring she is. Patients are not only touched by her while at Brookwood but long after leaving.”
Lori Green recognizes her “creative thinking and desire to help individuals in our communities get the help and care they deserve.” Jonathan Dunn described an instance that “without her compassion and knowledge of the situation, this family would have not been able to arrive at the most appropriate discharge plan for this patient” and added that he has “been thoroughly impressed at the professionalism, dedication, compassion and integrity displayed by Laurantine.” We more than agree!!
Laurantine is a high performing discharge planner who has been working with patients at Brookwood Medical Center for 34 years. She is a wonderful and willing resource for everyone and a real team player. She is well loved by all the case managers and nursing staff with whom she works.
