The 12th floor had an admission of a very high needs patient that was total care. The patient refused to eat and drink and would kick and scratch any staff member who would try to provide care. Many staff would leave with food on their clothes, water and other objects thrown at them, by the patient. Zach took time out of the day and worked with the patient over and over trying to get the patient to eat and drink. After many failed attempts, Zach still persevered on getting the patient to eat and drink and there was finally a breakthrough where the patient would calmly take food and water from Zach and hand the utensils back to Zach without throwing them or causing a mess. Zach went above and beyond to meet the needs of this patient.
