Over the Thanksgiving holiday a patient was seen in the ED and subsequently was admitted. This patient reports that he was very hesitant to come to the hospital. He said Avery took such wonderful care of him. He put him at ease, did not rush and was genuine in what he did. It was the little things that meant so much. This patient and his wife say that they can't wait to go back out into the community and tell folks what great care they received. This patient's wife said that Avery took care of her husband like she would have taken care of him. He gave him pain medication and took his time and pushed it very slowly so it would not hit him all at once. That was just one example she gave. This family wanted to make sure that Avery was thanked for the great job he did in taking care of their loved one. Teresa Bixenman, an RN on the floor that helped care for this patient following admission, was persistent in finding out who had made such an impression on this patient and his family. She was instrumental in getting some of this information for Avery and she wanted him to know that the patient had his family fix a turkey for him, but was not working the day they brought it in. ... Avery is very accommodating and happy to do whatever is asked of him. His patients always speak highly of him and he takes the time to truly care for them. Avery is quick to smile and has a great attitude. ... Avery has been a great addition to the ED Team. He brings a confident and calming demeanor to his patients and peers. Avery is always flexible and willing to assist with anything asked of him. His patients are consistently appreciative of the care and customer service he provides. I am grateful to have him as part of the Team!
