Kerry is always so pleasant with her patients and their family members. Recently, Kerry had a patient that needed a PEG tube placement. The patient had had a stroke. His family was with him and, of course, were very nervous about the procedure. The case had to be rescheduled because his pulse Ox was too low. The patient and his family were disappointed but realized it was in the best interest of the patient to reschedule. While waiting for transport back to his room, Kerry empathized with the patient about not being able to eat. His big eyes got so sad looking and he nodded yes. Kerry went and got him an orange ice-pop. She put it to his lips and the look of pure joy came over his face. She got him to hold the ice-pop and she would not let anyone take it from him. The cold, sweet taste of that ice-pop brought a couple of minutes of happiness to this poor man who just wanted to eat.

His family could not be more grateful to Kerry, but to her, it was just the right thing to do. She could have done nothing but that's not her way. It's moments like this that make you realize how you can make such a difference in someone's day by doing the smallest of kind deeds.
