Shantel goes the extra mile in all she does whether it be teaching or assisting students or new staff, helping her co-workers, volunteering to do an admission, whatever the task it doesn't matter she is all over it.
She recently took on the role of resus nurse in our unit and this entails going to deliveries and admitting patients while also being available to assist with procedures and busy assignments in the unit. She shines in this role...her positive attitude and her amazing work ethic is an example to all. She is one of the hardest workers I've ever seen and always so eager to learn and share that knowledge with others. The families of the tiny patient's she cares for love her and her special brand of caring that makes them feel included and very well taken care of. The NICU can be a very scary place for parents and Shantel puts them at ease.
I get so many positive comments from families about Shantel it is hard to list them all. She really goes the extra mile teaching and including the families of the patient's she cares for. She is in school to become a NNP and is always sharing what she learns in school to better our unit and benefit other nurses. She doesn't have to do that...she just does because that's who she is. I really think she is a role model in all areas in our unit and wish we could clone her! She really deserves to be recognized for all that she does so she will know that what she does doesn't go unnoticed and that she is appreciated.
