I was a patient in the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center from the end of July through early August, and am currently receiving treatment through the Burn Center Clinic. I want to start off by saying how thankful I am that I was taken to Eskenazi for treatment because I feel I would not have received such amazing care at any other facility. During my time in the Burn Center I received care from some of the most amazing individuals in the health care field. I believe that it takes a very special individual to work in a Burn Center. The Doctors, but especially the Nurses, are caring for patients who are going through some of the most excruciating pain they will ever have to endure, and I cannot imagine the emotional toll it takes upon these professionals.
While I was in the Burn Center I received care from Nurses who I believe are second to none. They treat the patients, but also the patients families like friends. These professionals have a passion for what they do day in and day out. They are all true professionals and do not get enough recognition for all the hard work they do every day. I would like to single out one in particular, April Roser. April was my nurse everyday she was at the hospital during my stay. I learned that she was just a year into her nursing career, but she showed the knowledge and professionalism of a seasoned veteran. She kept my spirits high throughout some of the physically painful moments which in return kept my drive going to get better. For this alone, I believe she deserves this award for going above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot thank April, or all the other Doctors and Nurses enough for all they have done for me, but also how they treated my family.
