I was blessed to have Berna as my day nurse at downtown NCH recently, after my admittance via the ER. Her care was beyond care I had at other hospitals in the past. She answered questions I had, and was always concerned, caring, and un-rushed as she cared for me! One problem had arisen and her intervention quickly resolved it and calmed my fears. Just the week before, my husband had been released from NCH after a major abdominal surgery. Unfortunately, my doctor assigned to me did not check in with me on Wednesday. I had been admitted on Monday and after tests and scans were run on me, all revealed nothing, and I was anxious to return to care for my invalid husband. I spent all day waiting to see my doctor, who never came. Berna, after hearing my upset, got a hold of my doctor and shortly he came and released me so I could return home.
