My 92 yr. old Mother was in ICU this past month. The entire healthcare staff and facility was exceptional! Everyone clearly exemplified high quality patient care in the following ways:
Individualized attention to her comfort, condition, and recovery
Constant patient explanation of her medical status and thorough response to questions in "lay person's terms"
Keeping her informed of medical goals and progress
Compassion
Humor
Communication
Nurses integrating and analyzing all data to adjust care with changing needs
No one ever left the room without asking, "is there anything you need or want"
It felt like she was the only person on the unit! Continuity of care between ICU and Acute Rehab was seamless and everyone genuinely seemed interested in her well-being.
Finally, I was a CARF surveyor for 13 years and would have given you all multiple commendations because everyone from MDs to RNs to Case Coordinators to Social Workers to PT/OT to Admin Support to Cleaning person was wonderful!
