We had a patient who was homeless. He was going to be discharged and it was during the cold and snow. He refused to go to shelter. It was discovered during the process that he did not have any shoes. Barb was taking care of him and she found a way to make sure he had shoes on discharge. Barb purchased the man a pair of boots and new socks. Even though she did this she did not want credit. She took the boots to the social worker and asked her to give the boots to the patient and tell him they were a donation. Her kind act exemplifies our Franciscan values! She truly was an angel and a blessing to the patient.
