Integrity:
Mrs. Bradshaw-Jackson has earned the reputation of providing the best care possible to the patients without deviating from the VA policies, protocols, and standard of care. She does not hesitate on giving her views based on the standard of care if there are concerns in patient safety or if her opinion is requested. She is an excellent resource not only to the nurses she mentored but to the rest of the staff in JOPC. She has a desire of sharing and educating the rest of her colleagues of her new and old strategies/skills that she acquired from her 21 years of nursing experience.
Commitment:
Mrs. Bradshaw-Jackson is consistent in looking for ways to improve the patient care processes in every department/clinic she is assigned to. Early this year, there were issues about veterans with dermatological complains who request to be seen promptly. This usually takes a 30 minute slot of the PCP's time, whose panel is usually booked.
She developed a process of providing the patient a nursing visit instead of PCP visit. She performs the initial assessment and then the PCP will briefly assess the dermatological concern in the nurses' room. This allows the MD to place appropriate dermatology consult if needed and prescribe medication in a prompt manner. This also improved patient care access and prevented double booking of the PCP's panel.
She also shared the process to the rest of the Primary Care nurses and was implemented with success.
Advocacy:
One of the veterans missed his procedure because he has a problem of remembering his appointments. Mrs. Bradshaw-Jackson took time to sit down with the veteran in the waiting area and taught him how to add appointments in his cellphone and add alert notifications. The veteran was very appreciative of the time spent with him and learning how to make his cellphone more useful for his daily activities particularly medical appointments.

She treats everyone with respect regardless of their position, authority, or status.
Excellence:
Mrs. Bradshaw-Jackson's 17 year GI experience is an asset in the Endoscopy department. She provides training in using different GI forceps. She mentors new GI nurses in moderate sedation. She has passion in providing excellent care by making the electronic tools available to the JOPC staff such as CPRS, Joint Legacy Viewer, Vista, and secure messaging more user friendly. She consistently seeks ways to make these tools applicable to different daily patient care processes. She enthusiastically offers her knowledge and skills with these electronic tools to her colleagues including nurses and MDs to make their patient care delivery more efficient and effective. She also provides CPRS training to new nurses and at times PCP's.
