On the 12th of September my husband was brought to the unit. To our surprise, Mary Lou was his nurse and this was his 3rd visit to this unit. Each time, Mary Lou was his nurse. I felt very good knowing she would be taking care of him again. As the evening went on, my husband got a lot worse. Mary Lou continued to watch his every move, his color, breathing, etc. She finally said "we have to do something." She very calmly sprang into action. She called the doctors, and shortly thereafter several people were around my husband. They had to hook him up to a breathing machine. I was afraid, and she took the time to explain everything and comfort me.

She was so take-charge, a real professional that makes you feel secure. Later as my husband was being taken care of I saw her push a tear from her eye. Talk about compassion, leadership, integrity and quality nursing care - all wrapped into one super-caring nurse! Mary Lou gives nursing a good name and her department is blessed to have her.
