Kathy was hired in the BICU/PICU as a traveler over 20 years ago with the intent of staying for one 16 week assignment and she's never left. Kathy loves our burn population. She still keeps in contact with many patients and their families. Kathy decided she wanted to give back more to our vulnerable population so she got involved in burn outreach. She started out with educating schools, nursing programs, hospitals and firefighters. She regularly attends Burn Camp for kids age 7-17 years in North Bend. Kathy has had many posters accepted at the ABA (American Burn Association meeting) and became the first Nursing Chair for the ISBI (International Society for Burn Injuries). She developed a robust nursing program for international nurses. Now she is involved with the WSCFF (Washington State Council of Firefighters) program "It Happens in Seconds". Kathy loves our burn population and is what the DAISY award represents?
