This is about the teamwork, leadership and critical thinking skills Michael demonstrated with his patient. It was a code that went to CCU but the doctor wanted the patient to be transferred to SICU so a heart nurse could take care of her.
Upon arrival to the unit, Michael was present to settle the patient in. It was not long when the patient coded and he was present to assist with the code. He was a runner; he made necessary phone calls to lab, pharmacy, etc. and he interacted with family. As the relief charge was at bedside of the code, he made sure the rest of the team, SICU staff, was attended to. He assisted with the daily care of the patients while the code team, MD, relief charge, the primary nurse and RT were attending the coding patient.
...Michael put his peer's needs above his personal needs. He did have an orientee attending to his patients, so he did not neglect anyone. Michael is always willing to help others, he jumps right in when help is needed and is so easy to work with.
I see a bright future for him and I'm blessed to work with a great nurse and colleague.
