Stacy Sparks is one of the Clinical Unit Leader's in the Emergency Department who has been a part of the organization since 2013. Stacy is the true definition of leadership as she exemplifies compassion, knowledge, and patient safety. Stacy promotes a culture of teamwork, safety, and patient-centered care.
Stacy never hesitates to provide a helping hand in the Emergency Department and go above and beyond to make sure the department has all of the available resources needed before the next shift. Stacy provides educational updates, real-time feedback to staff, and constantly rounds on Emergency Department patients. Stacy promotes teamwork by encouraging staff to work collaboratively with other nursing staff and physicians.
An example of Stacy's wonderful leadership skills includes her advocating for a pediatric patient. A clinical nurse was concerned about a very ill pediatric patient and had questions regarding the plan of care. Stacy encouraged and supported this nurse to review the patient's chart, and then collaborate with the resident physician about additional questions or concerns. If there were still patient safety concerns, Stacy explained the chain of command pathway to ensure patient safety. This nurse completed the entire task with Stacy at her side to support her. The nurse felt that without Stacy's guidance, she wouldn't have been able to fully advocate for her patient. This is just one way that Stacy leads and supports the Emergency Department staff.
Stacy also demonstrates leadership through professional development. Stacy recently completed her BSN and is actively studying for a Professional Nursing Certification, Certified Emergency Nursing. Stacy hopes to obtain her MSN one day in leadership so that she can continue being an instrumental leader within the organization. Stacy has the passion and drive for leadership and truly impacts the Emergency Department with her leadership abilities. Stacy is amazing and a rock for the department! It is such an honor and privilege to get to work alongside her!
