It is difficult to pick just one nurse because your team is so compassionate. They all went way beyond to make sure that the patient and family were all taken care of.

With that being said, Rhonda Britton was my dad's nurse on more than one occasion. She treated him as if he was the only patient in the entire hospital. She went way beyond her duties in our eyes. Dad trusted her when he thought he could fall. I can still hear her say, "Mr. J, I gotcha if you fall, you will fall on me first." Those words, "Mr. J, I gotcha," still brings a smile to my face today.

Another trip to the hospital and who would have thought that would be the last trip for my dad. Not me. After talking to the doctors, we knew the time had come for dad to begin another chapter in his life. This chapter would not include us, but the family that he had not seen in many years - his own dad who left his earth 50-years ago, his brother, his sister-in-law's and many friends in heaven.

As we rode the elevator to the 2nd Floor, who was there and greeted us with a big hug - none other than Rhonda. Well, unfortunately, that particular Sunday, Rhonda did not have the Palliative Care Room, but she knew my dad, "Mr. J", trusted her and we all love her bedside manner. I asked her if she could take care of him and without hesitation she did.
