We recently had a patient that was here for a while and she needed a good bath and hair wash. Maria asked her favorite scent and went to Bath and Body Works, bought the bath supplies for her and gave her a spa day. The patient really enjoyed the day and was very thankful to Maria.
We currently have a patient who had surgery, doesn't get up or move well, and her daughter was transferred to comfort care also here at the hospital. Maria was an advocate that her daughter be brought to 5S so that the mother would be close and would also be more convenient for the family to visit both patients.
Maria is always very caring toward her patients and willing to go the extra mile to make sure her patients are well cared for as well as attending to family needs. She is a benefit to St. Vincent and represents our mission and values.

I was admitted to the hospital first for a small intestine surgery and I was taken to the 5th floor. Maria was my nurse. She was very thorough, talking through my medications card, what to expect and how to ring for help. She was very kind and courteous. She reassured me to keep walking and keep fluids in me to keep healthy. She is very professional, and you can tell she takes pride in her job. She is very genuine, and she brings a positive attitude. That is why I and my family choose St. Vincent for our care and health.
