Kathryn was our nurse for a second stay in ICU during my husband's hospitalization. We were worried and discouraged after a minor setback and she did an excellent job of putting everyone at ease. She was personable, attentive, calm, and funny. Kathryn anticipated and met any needs of her patient as well as his family. Small touches like writing "Happy Valentine's Day" on the board and saying hello in the cafeteria showed that she truly cared. She did her best to make a stressful two days as easy and relaxed as possible.
Kathryn was open and conversational so that after only two days we felt like we knew her. At the end of her last shift, she even gave us hugs. All our caregivers have been kind and professional, but Kathryn stands out for her professionalism, personality, and sincerity. It sounds odd, but we were sorry to leave the ICU because we wouldn't get to see our favorite nurse, Kathryn.
