We had a patient that came in that has been here multiple times. Before that, Brandy has not had the pleasure to assist with her care in the past. In the past she is known by most of the other staff, given we have all dealt with her and have known the history of this patient. With this being the first time Brandy has cared for this patient, she cared for her as if she was the only patient she had at the time, devoting her time to this patient. The patient's story is very sad every time that she tells it. But again, this was the first time that Brandy had ever heard it. Brandy was very consoling and attentive to her; listening to her and showing so much respect and care for the patient and her story.
Brandy at one point, during the conversation, began to rub the patient's head while attempting to console her, she became very sad due to the patient's situation. Brandy remained at the bedside with the patient, crying with her.
Brandy is a wonderful nurse and we all feel so happy knowing that she is a part of this emergency department and the CHS team. She truly is an asset and a wonderful and caring nurse. This act of care is what nursing is all about. Thank you, Brandy, for being a wonderful and caring nurse, you are such a DAISY!
