Kelly coordinated a STAT test with Nuclear Medicine on a weekend they were not here on site. She collaborated with physicians, technicians, administration, and pharmacy to expedite the patient's testing. Because there was no nurse on call for Nuclear Medicine, she also willingly went to the department during the scan in order to give the patient CCK during the procedure. She did all of this while maintaining her charge nurse responsibilities with a full assignment.
Although this situation shows truly outstanding skill, coordination, and compassion, it is not unusual for Kelly to exemplify this leadership. As a co-worker of hers, I can say that this behavior is a regular practice of hers and frequently gets overlooked and under-appreciated. Our patients and hospital are lucky to have such an incredibly hard working, energetic and dedicated patient advocate.

Noting the level of discomfort and continued swelling in my throat that should have been addressed by a referral from the ED as I was admitted, Kelly took it upon herself to contact the ENT staff and have me assessed just as my throat was swelling closed, after waiting 24 hours with no treatment by mistake! She saved my life.
