My mom is my angel, best friend, one of the most important people in the world... the list is long...and I am very protective of her and care she is getting. In 4 years since my mom was diagnosed with cancer, she and I have been stuck hip to hip. In those years there have been plenty of difficult situations, but now that she is at the end of her fight and difficult decisions must be made, it's so rewarding to have Lydia with us. She is here to support us through bathroom assistance, positioning, medication, etc. but has also helped us emotionally from giving us advice, and words of reassurance about what is to come. It is a hard process but she gives us all the options and resources and things to consider. She has given us guidance of what to expect, on hospice options and things to consider to offering her shoulder to lean on and cry. She not only gave care to my mom but to me as well. She answered all the questions, and I had a million of them, above all she helped us fulfill one of my mom's last wishes and that was to have a church wedding here at the hospital. She worked it all out so that the priest could do a full-on ceremony, that is priceless and above and beyond. I truly hope you can see how amazing this young, caring and hardworking person is and give her the recognition she deserves.
