I wish to express my sincere appreciation to a special RN Ryan Terrio for what I believe his action led to saving my life. I was admitted for a second event that resulted in 2 surgeries. If it wasn't for Ryan continued assessment, intuition, and willingness to listen to a 71-year-old anxious patient was commendable. He is a hero; in Afghanistan for two tours fighting for our country and now as a front-line nurse helping to save lives again. I know without truly committed nurses the health care system can break down. As a veteran myself, it was reassuring to have his commitment to me as obvious in the ER as it was to his fellow service partners in the battlefield. I truly believe his actions led to saving my life because of avoiding too quick of a discharge.
