Jerlon has always gone above and beyond for her patients. Today was another day she showed her compassionate care for our patient. The patient had brain surgery. S/P brain stimulator removal. Due to the procedure, the patient was very confused and combative.
Jerlon built such a strong bond with him that he was off restraints at the end of the shift. She engaged in the conversations with the patient's brother and found out that her patient has played the piano at his church. In the afternoon, Jerlon took the patient to the main lobby to play the piano. By the time we went downstairs, the patient was smiling and singing. Words don't do justice to the emotions on his face.
Jerlon is a role model nurse. Her compassion for our patients inspires all of us on the unit.
After we brought the patient back to his room, he continued singing.
