Dion was recognized by the children of two of her patients for the loving care shown to their parents.
The daughter of one of Dion's patients nominated her for the care of her mother. She gave examples of how Dion "was conscientious and followed through on every question." She wrote, "we never felt it would have to wait when Dion was on, we knew she would always resolve to get to the bottom of any issue during her shift." She also wrote that Dion "genuinely cared" and would "come in to talk to us, offer words of consolation, and comfort." The patient's daughter ended the nomination by writing "I've been a registered nurse for 30 years and I've been the primary caregiver of my elderly mother for over 10 years. During this time, I have come across many nurses and I must say that Dion is one of the best."
The son of one of Dion's patients nominated her for the care of his "97 year old, 100% blind and 95% deaf father." He wrote that his father "received excellent care and recovered quickly. In a perfect world, that is what is supposed to happen, and it did. What I was not prepared for was the level of sincere concern that was displayed, especially the attention that was provided by Dion Duhon." The son described several ways in which Dion "went over and beyond the call of duty." He closed the letter by writing, "I wanted you to be aware that the way she presented herself and performed her job and provided me with information was so compelling that I was able to focus on my father and I did not have to become an advocate for him. I was just the guy standing next to my father's bed, Dion was his advocate. I want to thank your team for the care provided for my father and especially Dion for all she did."
