TVHS has been providing my care for the past 22 years. For the past year, Susan Hale, RN, Peritoneal Dialysis, has been my nurse. From day one, she was my educator, treatment nurse, mentor, counselor, and friend throughout this life-changing situation. She patiently explained things to me and my wife, sometimes more than once, until we got it. She has a wonderful way of making a stressful situation calming. She is an ultimate professional and caregiver but has the humor and constant positive attitude that helps the stress of the situation be bearable. She is always available for questions, direction, and as a sounding board any time. She makes us feel at ease and opens the line of communication, which is important in maintaining my good health. Susan's knowledge and skills are evident. One example is that when I developed an infection at the tube site, Susan had me provide her daily updates on my situation even through the weekend. Another example was when we were adjusting my dialysis solution mixture, Susan again wanted my BP, weight, and ultrafiltration measurements even through the weekend. Ms. Hale is a wonderful and compassionate nurse/person. She is a stunning example of the nursing profession values, and I am honored to have her as our PD nurse.
