My day nurse Kaylee has gone above and beyond for me every time that she's been on duty. She has listened to my concerns and to my grief. I have throat cancer caused by the HPV I had when I was 18 years old and am being treated at a cancer institute. Since I've been here at Winter Haven Hospital, they found 2 masses in my right lung. I just lost my brother to COPD and the very next day at around 10 in the morning I was awakened by my mouth filling with blood. I vomited blood for around 10 minutes before I was able to grab my phone and text my significant other to come home immediately. I was admitted to another hospital and once home I began feeling even worse than I was.
Kaylee has listened to my situation and complaints. Kaylee, unbeknownst to me, put in a request for your palliative care specialist to see me and determine if there was anything that they could do to help! When told this, I cried at the fact that she cared enough about me to do that! I have since seen your palliative care nurse and your home health care advocate and they have been wonderful as well helping me to get things set up that I need. Kaylee has listened to me cry over the loss of my brother and the news of my own advancing illness. At any rate, Kaylee has sat with me and listened to all of the extensive health issues and let me cry and just been an absolute angel sitting on my shoulder. She is extremely knowledgeable and extremely compassionate, and this hospital is lucky to have her! And I have been extremely lucky to have had her as my nurse!
