I was hospitalized for an abscess with a nasty infection. I am a self-proclaimed "scaredy cat", as most patients are, and from the moment I was admitted Charlene was instantly a source of comfort! Right from the start, she made me feel like I was in the best hands and eased my worry. I was very afraid not only being in the hospital but after the doctor told me I had to have surgery, I expressed my fears, while I was crying, I might add, and Charlene held my hand and reassured me. I was so afraid, I jokingly asked her if she could switch her day and work the next day which was her scheduled day off, I truly didn't expect her to do this but joking with her made me feel better.
To my surprise the following day, Monica came to the hospital on her day off to see how I was doing! I was so moved. She continued to be my nurse when she returned from her days off and she continued to be amazing! Her professionalism and skills were top notch. When I explained to her, I didn't understand what one of my doctors was saying, she made it a point to make herself available to be in my room during rounds so when he left she could explain what I didn't understand.
Monica went above and beyond, and I am so thankful she was my nurse. She helped me get through a very scary difficult time and I will be forever grateful. I hope she will always remember when she is having a bad day what a remarkable nurse and person she is!
