Hilary was in charge of my son's care when he was admitted into the NICU. She was so delicate with him that first night. She gave him his first bath when I was unable to attend. She eased my mind so much by explaining to me everything that he needed, what his steps to recovery were, etc. She went above and beyond to make sure that his needs were not only met, but exceedingly met. She reassured me in those first hours, days, and week of his life. She made sure that we had chairs to sit in, a lowered bed so we could see our boy, and met all the needs that we could possibly have.
Hilary was so encouraging, and she is a true example of someone with a servant's heart. I was so depressed when my son went into the NICU. I wanted to cry, scream, punch a wall, take him and run. I was mad at myself and even mad at the doctors. The first night that he was admitted into the NICU, I was wheeled in there and I was so angry. We turned the corner and I saw Hilary sitting there next to his bedside charting, but she wasn't just charting, she was charting right beside his bed, and every time he moved she would turn and intently look at him, waiting to see what he needed next. The day I was going to be discharged, I cried so much. I thought I would never be able to leave my baby at the hospital and go home. Yet, when I got to the NICU that evening, Hilary was the one working and I had all the peace that I've ever had in my whole life leaving him there in her care.
If I had a million votes to give, every single vote would be to Hilary. She answered every one of our billion questions to the best of her ability, with a smile on her face. She never once complained, always acted like her job was the best one on the planet, and always gave the babies her all.
