A gentleman came into our unit and it was obvious he had been depressed. He had not been taking care of himself. He had pressure ulcers. His clothing was worn, and he did not have clean clothes with him. He wore a large size.
Kristi went out of her way to find a store that carried his size. She wanted to be sure he had clean clothes to wear after he had showered. Her shift ended at 0730. She stayed in town until the retail store opened at 0900 and purchased him some new clothes. She brought them back to the unit for him to wear after his shower. Kelly took care of the patient the next evening and he was so touched and happy to be cared for. He said his wife cried when she found out. Not only was this a kind act, but it also helped the patient recover from his severe depression.
