We are excited and proud to bestow the DAISY Nurse Leader Award to recognize and honor Mary McTigue, our Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer.
We presented Mary with this award for her support of the Nursing Research Council from its inception and for her commitment to the success of the Annual Nursing Research Day. Humbly and quietly, she has been the "silent partner" behind this annual organizational commitment.
We would not be able to celebrate a Decade of Dedication, the 10th Annual Nursing Research Day without the support and commitment of Mary. Mary has had a powerful impact on our organization.
The Annual Nursing Research Day promotes and enhances the image of nursing within the organization and our profession. Our early research days were comprised solely of presenters from outside the organization, always with the goal that we would grow to combine the expertise of invited presenters with the nursing talent from within our organization. We have accomplished this through Mary's vision and support of educational advancement and professional development of her nurses.
Mary's commitment to professional development is evident as she steered Trinitas Regional Medical Center through the re-designation as a Center of Excellence for "Creating a Workplace Environment that Promotes the Academic Progression of Nurses", awarded by the National League for Nursing (NLN).
