As a team player, Laura excels in creating harmony and assisting co-workers as needed to complete tasks. She displays professionalism in her knowledge (being certified in her specialty, attending workshops on her own time), values and conduct. She is, without question, always there for the patients. Her commitment to patients does not stop at the end of her shift. She is involved in the Lawrence Co. Cancer Services and supports all their events. When I came to their department, callers would always ask for this nurse. At first this was a little offensive -- but after witnessing the care and compassion she showed to each person, I realized why they wanted to speak to her. That caring may be in the form of a card, small gift, dropping off a prescription that the patient forgot or was unable to pick up or just a kind word or smile. To me, and I am sure our patients would agree, she represents all the qualities of a DAISY Nurse.
