I am a chronically ill patent recently having a liver resection from liver cancer. I came by ambulance for colitis. I was in so much pain. I was having a rough time with my care and thought about leaving. In walked Miles and because of him I stayed. He is so compassionate, caring, kind, loving and brilliant. Clearly, he is dedicated to his job because of his calling to help others. He is non-judgmental, smart, articulate and so well spoken. I was a MESS, crying, scared, in pain, alone and no one there to talk to me. I called security, night admin, and patient relations, but Miles sat with me. He held my hand, looked directly at me with true loving, caring eyes. He cared about ME! I had never met him, yet felt he could be my son. Never have I felt that kind of compassion from a nurse and he was not even MY nurse (yet). Miles handled my fear, took the time to hear me, and listened to me attentively. He assured me that he would be by my side every step of the way as he was assigned to me for that day. He made me feel safe. I was incredibly grateful as I was scared and had never been in such a bad situation. Miles not only took care of my medical needs so efficiently, he also took care of my mental health.
