Several years ago my husband was on the third floor. This day a gentleman had been brought in late the day before, into the room with us. The next morning his physician came in and told the gentlemen in my husband's room that he needed to talk to him and his wife. The physician said he would come back when his wife came in. All day Petula and the man tried reaching his wife and his son. At 4:00 pm the physician came back and even though no one was with the gentleman he informed the man that he only had a few months to live and nothing further could be done for him. Petula kept showing her concern for him even while caring for her other patients. At 7:00 pm she told the man that she had to clock out but would be back. She told him she would not leave him alone. She came back and held his hand and talked quietly to him. At 9:00 pm I left, and she was still in the room. Petula truly is dedicated to each patient she cares for.
