Gina exemplifies the perfect balance of leadership and compassion on a daily basis. As a charge nurse in our extremely busy, sometimes chaotic emergency department, Gina stands out as a star. By treating each patient with compassion and each employee with the utmost respect, she maintains a safe environment of care for all the patients she contacts in her 12-hour shift. Her role in our department has an invaluable effect on good clinical outcomes and positive patient-family experiences. She played a large part in our department's recent redesign that has improved patient metrics such as wait times, arrival to intervention times and arrival to admission times. Again, these are invaluable and consistently contribute to improved patient outcomes on a large scale. Not to mention, Gina serves as a level-headed voice of reason for the department as she frequently serves as the middleman between the Emergency Department and the rest of the hospital, facilitating admissions and discharges with ease. There is no one specific story that demonstrates Gina's meaningful difference because her nursing practice is consistent each shift. Our hospital and the children of Los Angeles are so lucky to have her on our team.
