Marcy Page sets the standard for providing compassionate, empathetic, and holistic nursing care. Marcy is always so patient and puts her time at the bedside above everything else. With her 28 years at Children's Mercy, she has impacted the lives of countless children and families. She continuously goes above and beyond for all her patients. As just one example, a long-term patient on our unit expressed his love for pistachios. Marcy brought in all of the ingredients for a Waldorf salad the next day. She spent time at the bedside with this patient during her busy day to make this salad with him as well as teach him how to make it. The following day this patient made the salad by himself. This is not anunusual thing for Marcy to do. This small gesture made a huge impact on this patient's long-term stay. This is only one example of how she goes above and beyond for all her patients. Marcy's job does not end at the end of her 12-hour shifts. She frequently will call the unit on her days off if she thinks of something that may impact the quality of care for one of her patients. Marcy is always teaching staff and patients how to prevent hospital-acquired conditions. She has set the standard on 6 Hall on how to care for patients.
